beautiful

a very warm and mellow piece. it's a good thing that you kept the strings in the back and let the keys speak, cause they speak a lovely language.
keept up the good work!

greets

Piano-Freak responds:

Hehe Glad you enjoyed it ^^

yeah

you got a sick heavy guitar tone man. I am exited for the final version cause I enjoyed what I heard. keep it coming!

Bad-Man-Incorporated responds:

Thanks dude. Pretty soon, hopefull. I'm just tryin to get my hands on a bass, so I can fucking finish it. :D Thanks again.

well done

I like the classical influence here, you mastered the implementation of it very good. I don't like most of the dnb stuff here on ng but you definatly made a good job. keep it going.

nice

The only thing that bothered me was the mixing. It was kinda panned in the middle too much, so I wasn't able to hear the riffing of the guitar properly. I like the intro and the part beginning in 2:55. yeah good work overall.

Gorgorothx responds:

Yeah this was "mixed" back about two years ago, when I was still a noob. There's so many things I would have done differently had I recorded it now ;)

sweet

it's just lovely. it's not the most complex composition but the lonely piano speaks such a strong and personal language that I really enjoyed listening to it. I like the deep chord at 01:30. the tones are well placed and smooth in their sounding. the reverb is ok I think theres nothing to improve here. the only thing I missed where some high decent melody lines or single tones cause after listening to the piece a few times I feel like there could be more colours added.
I make this a favorite, good work.

midimachine responds:

Yeah I need to expand the range of pitches as well as the dynamics. Thanks heaps for the tips!

great

just great, I must say I fall in love with some of your melodys. I couldn't say any great bad things about the hole piece. I really like your progressions and harmonies and the way you put them together. there are also some little things that doesn't sound lovely to me but that's all very subjective. so I give you 5/5 and 9/10 because it's really good but not perfect.
Oh and please raise the vol. a bit I think that could make it sound better for many people.

pathock3 responds:

Yeah, you know, I'm young and anxious, so I feel like one of the things I need to work at the most is developing themes and getting the most out of my ideas. This piece has some cool rhythmic motives, but it's really a constant stream of new melodic ideas. But when I was writing it I had so many different ideas that kept coming to me, so every 20 seconds or so there's a new melody, unrelated to previous ideas. Anyways, yeah there's some interesting progressions and harmonies for sure! And some semi-awkward dissonance, but I like it :)

like the chracter

I like the character of the hole piece. It's calm but quite thoughtful at the same time. It fits well in the newgrounds april joke cause of the asian touch I think. I didn't expect the wierd sounding noise at 00:42. that was kind of surprising but it shows also that you're experimentating a lot which is very good!
keep it up you've many ideas and I think your own style, too.
greetings

FairSquare responds:

Asian touch? Hmmm, yeah a little bit. Didn't do that on purpose though :P
And yeah, i experimentate a lot.
Thanks for the review!

good flutes

I like how you mixed classical and sort of easy listening together. the flutes lay a very colourful melody upon the smooth cello and contrabass lines and progressions. the ending comes to suddenly it would be nice to hear a softer fading out.
you already heard that the drumkit was not fitting so well. I'd prefer some orchestral samples that sound medival like the song.

you do improve anyway, keep it up.

FairSquare responds:

Thanks for the review! :-)
I really appreciate it!

yep

one of my favs for the contest. the beginning reminds me of some dramatical films, great emotion captured here. hm I must say I don't really like the guitar, you should've kept it orchestral. but the flutes are great I love it when live instruments comes into play and the calm outro fits perfectly.
so nice work overall keep it up.

Rottenbeard responds:

Thanks for the vote of confidence g0rc :).

nice feeling

I can hardly understand that this has a lower score than 4.00. It's a great ambient piece. Yeah I like it a lot it fits well in the contest! The woooosh is a bit too loud for my taste. a real recording of the wind would be better I think.

Current Score

3.86 / 5.00 (+ 0.016)

LK412 responds:

=( Yea zero bombers are pretty mean. Lol

The whoosh was i dunno i made this song in pretty much 2 days so i just threw in some effects to make the song not feel empty. As for getting an actual recording il look around.

I might enter this into the contest (revamped of course)

Thanks for the 10 the score boost and the review
